César Chávez Day is observed on his birthday on March 31 in the following states: Califoria, Arizona, Colorado, Michigan, Utah, New Mexico, Wisconson, and Texas, as well as dozens of cities and counties in the US. Its purpose is to promote "service learning" in which people of all ages reach out and make a positive difference in their communities in honor of the life and works of
César Chávez.
